Create Bid

Purpose

Use Create Bid to start a new bid project that may or may not be awarded as an order. If a bid is awarded, it can be quickly converted to a project. Bid status can either be set to open, awarded or declined.

Prerequisites

If creating a bid from an originating project, an existing bid, project, or master project must already exist.

Steps

To create a bid:

  1. From the main CS Director window, select Project List.
  2. Click Create Bid.


  1. Complete the required fields and any additional fields that are needed.

Required fields are highlighted in yellow.

  1. By default, a bid is not based on an originating project, however, an originating project can be selected from the list.

  1. Select Include Task Data to copy all task data to the project, including dates, assignees, notes. If this is unchecked, the task is saved, but not the task data.
  2. Project mode: Select Single Plan or Multi Plan; Single Plan is for projects that use only a single plan/elevation; Multiple Plan is for projects with more than one plan/elevation. To change the default setting, see .
  3. Bid # is initially populated using the next sequential number. This can be overwritten with a manual bid number. To define preset numbering, see Project Numbering Field Descriptions .
  4. Project Name is not required to create a project; however, a project name can assist in locating a specific project from the project list. When you enter the first letter of a Project Name, a list of existing projects displays.
  5. The customer is automatically populated with the first customer in the database, organized alphabetically.

a.  You can select a different customer from the list.

b.  To add a new customer, click Add New.

  1. Select a Material Catalog to assign to the bid.
  2. Select a Preset Template from the list.
  3. Select a Sales Person from the list.
  4. Select a Project Manager.
  5. Click Create Bid.

After a bid is created, the Project Info tab displays. From the Project Properties section, specify the Bid Status as either Open, Awarded, or Declined.

Note that you cannot change the Design Application option; Truss Studio is the only option avaiable.
