Preset Manager Field Descriptions

Summary

Open the Preset Manager > Presets window to create templates for Fabrication and other parts of the application including Pricing, Engineering, Lumber, and Reporting. The initial template that displays is determined by the starting template set up in Administration > Starting Template.

The following table lists field descriptions.

  • Save As Template: Save the current presets and settings as a new, user-named template.
  • Delete Current Template: Delete an existing template.
  • Rename Template: Rename an existing template.

Template

Select a template from the drop down list.

The Default Template always displays in the Template drop down list, along with any other available templates.

Piece Labeling and Sequencing

Define consolidation and labeling options.

Use the Piece Labeling and Sequencing option to consolidate boards by group and label them individually. Youcan:

  • Angle Batch to consolidate the CS Assembly list-Consolidated Angles report by angle, where pieces that have the same material and cut angles are consolidated. Do not check this box for other reports. Once this option is turned on for a project, it stays on unless it is unchecked.
  • Label trusses individually, but the boards can also be combined to a group saw output
  • Specify the sequence
  • Select from a variety of labels or enter a custom label
  • Select a label sequence
  • View an example of the label in the dialog box
  • Specify the label (batch or individual) that is viewed in the saw output

Beginning in 2024.7, if you select Cutting Output Consolidation by Piece Type, the following window displays, allowing you to consolidate chords and webs differently.

This option allows separate consolidation of pieces by piece type.

Consolidation options include:

  • Project

  • Production Group

  • Truss

  • Same Piece

  • Stack List by Plan/Elevation

  • Stack List by lot

Piece types can be filtered by saws. Piece Types include:

  • Top chords

  • Bottom chords

  • Stacked chords

  • Webs

  • Gables

  • Sliders

  • Wedges

  • Scabs

  • Non-structural pieces

Best practices for Output Consolidation:

1. Match the labeling option to the consolidation.

2. Use sorting that matches the consolidation option.

  • This may require creating different saws for different Piece Types.

Note that Stack List does not work with Project and group sort since the stack list orders trusses in the plans/elecation and Project and Group work differently.

CS Director

General

  • Design Application - CS Truss Studio Suite is the only option available.

  • Project Source - Select the most common source for projects submitted to Engineering. Options include Simpson Customer, Simpson Design Services, and Simpson Branch.

  • For Single Plan projects to use Lot Level Tracking (to generate multiple lots), the setting Display the Deliveries tab in Single Plan Projects must be selected.

Pricing

Select Labor Methods (Standard or Custom), Project Pricing parameters, and Invoice Summary Reports. Beginning in 2024.7, you can generate Invoice reports based on presets defined in Pricing. Reports are accessible on the Invoice Form dialoge.

Invoice reports defined here are selectable on the Invoice dialog.

Tax Delivery option lets you select whether a delivery should be taxed. When inside a project, the Tax Delivery option is displayed on the Pricing tab. After a project is created, this option can be changed after the project is created. To view this option on the Pricing Tab, see Pricing Tab commands

Plan/Elevation Pricing - starting values that will be applied to newly created projects unless another value is entered for the project's selected customer in Admin > Companies page > Company Information dialog > Accounting Information.

Engineering

Select state seal for the project location.

Lumber

Reporting

The default for these options is unselected.

Plans and Elevations

Preset the starting quantity for each new elevation and establish the starting elevation name.

Check Allow Stack List Item Copy to copy a stack list and paste it in another elevation. When items are copied /pasted into another elevation the trusses will be set to User Managed, even if they are associated with the original layout.

Project Error Checks

Project Error Checks are run when Batch Process is initiated.

Auto Group

Auto Group presets lets you import groups as specified and sorts the groups.

Pull List

Pull list lets you automatically combine members of the same size to be cut from a single longer length board for the purpose of managing inventory costs.

Plate Sorting

Lets you determine how plates are sorted for analysis in Truss Studio.

Piece Labeling and Sequencing

 

CS Truss Studio

Opens a Truss Studio window where you can access the EnvData settings.

Save and Close

Save the current preset setup for the selected template. To save as another template, use the File menu options.

Save

Save the current preset change and leave the window open.

Cancel

Closes the preset window.

Accessing

1.  In the main Project List window, select Tools.

2.  Select Presets.

The Preset Manager window displays.

3.  Select a category in the left pane to display applicable information in the right pane. Options are described in the table above.
