Project Types
CS Director supports several types of projects. For
single plan projects, use the Create Bid or Create Project options. The
Create Master Project option is most useful for large projects with multiple
deliveries and phases, such as tract home subdivisions and large multi-family
building projects.
Project types include:
Master Projects are used for large projects with multiple deliveries and phases, such as tract home subdivisions and large multi- family building projects. As orders are placed, create individual projects from the Master, so common information, such as customer, dates, and tasks are transferred to the new project.
- One
Master Project can be created for all the plans and plan options for a
particular project in order to calculate the original bid. As orders are
placed, create individual (sub) projects from the Master.
- When
creating a new project from an existing Master Project, all common information,
such as, customer, dates, and tasks are transferred from the Master Project.
You can also select specific plans to import to a new project.
- Use
Master projects for the following scenarios:
- A
large project that contains many plan options and all of the plans need
to be priced, but not every option is built.
- All
or part of the project may be reused.
- The
project is bid to one location, but as the houses are built, they are
going to customers that are different from the original bid with all the
options.
Use Bid Projects to quote a job prior to it being awarded.
- If
the bid is awarded, convert the Bid Project into a Project.
- If
the bid is not awarded, record the reason for the declination. This information
is saved and can be included in sales reports.
Used for individual projects, those converted from Bid Projects, and those included under a Master Project. Production Projects may include all plans and elevations, or just a partial set created from an existing Master Project. For users who do not need to differentiate between various project options, or report bid conversion statistics, this is the most common project type to use.
- If
the Project is based on a bid, this type is convenient for later running
reports that detail the variance between the Bid price and the actual
Project price.
- If
the Project is based on a Master Project, you are prompted for which Plans/Elevations
to transfer from the Master Project. After selecting these
Plans/Elevations, all pertinent information (components, miscellaneous
items, sets, and project information) is transferred into the new Project.
Use Change Order Projects when an additional item,
repair, or add-on is needed on a project that has already shipped.
- Change
Order Projects allow you to associate the change order with the original
project for reporting.
- Document
the reason why the change order was needed.
Use this option when importing Design Data Packages for the following:
- Layout files (elevations)
- Truss files (components)
- Project materials
- Project preset
