Check In Multiple

Client/Server Mode

Purpose

Use this feature to save changes made to multiple projects that were checked out to the Client, so that additional users can access the latest project information.

Prerequisites

  • Must be operating CS Director in Client/Server mode
  • Multiple projects must be checked out to a client and exist on the server
  • Client must be connected to server

Steps

To check in multiple projects:

  1. From the main CS Director window, select Project List.
  2. Click Check In Multiple.

  1. Select projects to check in.

  1. Select the type of check in.

Commit changes to server and remove local copy Applies the changes made to the project on the client and synchronizes all project information with the server. This also removes the local copy of the project from the client and unlocks the project allowing other users to edit it. When a project is checked in using this option, the project becomes unlocked .

Commit changes to server and keep local copy for view Applies the changes made to the project on the client and synchronizes all project information with the server. This retains the local copy of the project on the client for view only and unlocks the project allowing other users to edit it. When a project is checked in using this option, the project becomes unlocked .

Commit changes to server and keep local copy checked out for edit Applies the changes made to the project on the client and synchronizes all project information with the server. This retains the local copy of the project on the client. The project remains checked out to the client in edit mode. This is recommended at the end of the work day. When this method is used, the project remains checked out to the client in edit mode .

  1. Click OK.
  • While the project is being checked in, the status bar at the bottom of the Director window displays messages.

  • The project(s) being checked in are disabled on the Project List. They are not accessible until the check in is complete. All other projects are available.
  • If there are any errors they are reported in the status bar by clicking on the General Messages or See Errors button. Projects that fail to check in should be tried again.

Note: It is recommended to check in projects at the end of each day.
