Synchronize to Server

Client/Server Mode

Purpose

Use synchronize to server to update project data on the server with the latest project information available from the client.

Projects are automatically synchronized every 30-60 seconds, so this command is only used, if the automatic synchronization occurs less frequently. The synchronization time is set in the Director configuration file.

Prerequisites

  • Must be operating CS Director in Client/Server mode.
  • Project must be checked out to a client and exist on the server.
  • Client must be connected to the server.

Steps

To synchronize to server:

  1. From the main CS Director window, select Project List.
  2. Select a project from the Project List that is checked out to the current client.
  3. To update the selected project on the server with the most current project data from the client, click Synchronize To Server.

When the server is being synchronized, the Syncing icon displays.

This allows other clients to access the most current information for the selected project.

Synchronization with the server occurs in the following situations:

  • Opening Director
  • Closing Director
  • Prior to Check in
  • Prior to Check out
  • Prior to Administration w/ progress bar
  • Prior to Project list
  • Prior to launching presets (outside of project)
  • Return to Director from presets
  • Prior to launching materials (outside of project)
  • Return to Director from materials w/ progress bar
  • When navigating away from the Project > Task tab
  • Project List > Change Status dialog > OK button
  • Web Calendar > current user's edits: This saves directly to the server and therefore you do not need to sync to update your own changes
  • Web Calendar > Other user's edits: the Refresh Data button gets changes from other users
