To create a new component:

1.  Select the Components Tab for a project.

2.  Click New Component.

When the cursor is positioned over an existing component, this command is also available from the right-click menu.

3.  Select the type of component and CS Truss Studio opens.

4.  Create the design for the new component that is created in CS Truss Studio.

5.  Save the component and the component displays in CS Director.

Note: To ensure accurate truss quantities are maintained between Truss Studio and Director, the following rules have been implemented:

In Single Plan Project Mode

  • When you create a truss in Truss Studio using File > New Truss or Save As you can change quantities in Truss Studio until the truss is saved. Once you save a truss the #Mfg field becomes read-only and you can edit quantities only in Director.

  • When you create a truss in Director, the #Mfg field is read-only in Truss Studio and displays the quantity you input in the New Component dialog when the truss was created. You can edit truss quantities in Director after you create them.

In Both Multiple Plan and Single Plan Project Modes

  • The layout controls the quantity of trusses created from a layout. When you view a layout truss in Truss Studio Design, the #Mfg field is read-only and the elevation layout quantity displays.

  • A layout truss that is changed to user-managed in Director can only have its quantity edited in Director. If you save the layout again in Truss Studio, the user-managed status is unchecked and the layout quantity is saved.
