Change Task Status

Purpose

This dialog displays all tasks associated with the project in a grid format for quick viewing and editing. This dialog has the same functionality as the Tasks Tab inside a project.

Prerequisites

One or more projects must exist in the current Project List view.

Steps

To change the status for a selected project:

  1. From the main CS Director window, select Project List.
  2. Select a project.
  3. Click Change Status on the toolbar.

The Change Status dialog displays.

Working on the Change Status Dialog

The Change Status dialog (for a selected project on the Project List or Web Calendar) displays all tasks associated with the project in a grid format for quick viewing and editing.

Similar to editing tasks within projects, the quick edit functionality is available for applying today’s date and the current user.

Grouping by column

With many plans and lots in a project, each with their own statuses, the Tasks tab may contain a large amount of information. Grouping the information by column headers can help focus on critical information.

  • Group by Association places all of the tasks for a given item (Project, Plan, Lots) together:

  • Group by Task places all the same task records for each item together.

  • In the example above, in addition to the grouping, columns are sorted using a multi-column sort.

  • On the screen below, after grouping by the Task column:

    1. Click Seq ID column to arrange all tasks in sequence order.

    1. While pressing Shift , click on Association column to sort items in that column alphabetically.

      • Up to three columns can be used in a multi-column sort.

Show Components button

  • This button is enabled when a Lot Level task is selected on the Tasks grid.

  • Click this button to open a dialog with a list of the trusses associated to the task.

Rebuild Tasks from Defaults function

To update tasks on existing projects to match new tasks and tracking level edits in the Admin > Task/Status tab:

  • On the Project > Tasks tab (or change Status dialog) > Rebuild Tasks from Defaults function can be used to quickly make the update.

  • This function replaces all existing tasks with the current default tasks. All existing task data will be permanently lost. The following warning displays:

Convert Tasks function

Single Delivery Projects

  • Some small projects may require only one delivery; typically, these projects will not use the Deliveries tab > Lots feature.

  • For these projects, all tasks can be converted to project level so that lots do not need to be created to display Lot Level tasks.

  • The Convert Tasks (to Project Level) button is available in any project that does not already have Lots or more than one plan.

    • Selecting this button converts all existing tasks to project-level and adds all current lot-level tasks as project-level tasks

To manually add a task, see Tasks Tab Field Descriptions
