Batching - Piece Labeling & Sequencing

Watch video

Summary

Batching supports the separation of board and label consolidation between assembly reports and automated saw files. This includes new settings that allow for independent control of each option when outputting cutting and defining piece labeling and sequence numbers. Options include:

Piece Label Prefix options including TBWGO, first character(s) of group name, custom prefix for each piece type and single prefix for all. Sequence number restart including project, group, truss and none, all of which can be used in combination with restarting per piece type.Chord labeling sequence by saw sort criteria, left to right or right to left.Web labeling sequence by saw sort criteria, left to right or right to left, and inside-out when symmetrical.

Field Descriptions

Section/Field

Description

Process Unit section

Controls saw file consolidation.

Cutting Output Consolidation By:

Cutting output consolidation for saws. Select one of the following:

  • Project: Consolidates like pieces for output across the entire project
  • Group: Consolidates like pieces for output by group
  • Truss: Consolidates like pieces for output by truss
  • Same Piece: Only consolidates pieces in exact same position in multi-ply trusses
  • StackList: Consolidates like pieces for output by stack list
  • StackListLots: Consolidates like pieces for output by stack list lots

Piece Labeling and Sequencing

Piece Label Prefix

Determines what character displays before the Piece Label Sequence Number.

Select the option for formatting the Piece Label Prefix:

  • Custom Prefix per Piece Type
  • First {x} Character(s) in Group Name
  • Custom Prefix for All
  • TBWGO

Custom Prefix per Piece Type

Independently specify the label for each piece type.

  • Top Chord: T
  • Top Chord Overhang: T
  • Bottom Chord: B
  • Web: W
  • Top Scab: T
  • Bottom Scab: B
  • Wedge: W
  • Gable: G
  • Other: O
  • Slider: W

First {x} Character(s) in Group Name

Select the number of leading characters in group names to be used as the label prefix.

Custom Prefix for All

Specify a prefix to be used as the piece label prefix for all piece types.

  • If the Prefix is left blank, the label only contains a sequence number.

TBWGO

The following labels are used for each piece type.

  • T = top chords, stacked top chords and top chord scabs
  • B = bottom chords, stacked bottom chords and bottom chord scabs
  • W = webs and wedges
  • G = gables
  • O = other

Piece Sequencing

Lets you determine when to restart the sequence number.

Restart Sequence At

Select the option for when to restart the sequence number:

  • Project: The sequence number will restart at 1 for each project; T1, B2, W3, G4… If the Restart per Piece Type checkbox is also selected then the sequence number will restart at 1 for each piece type; T1, B1, W1, G1… and will restart again at 1 for each project.
  • Group: The sequence number will restart at 1 for each group; T1, B2, W3, G4… If the Restart per Piece Type checkbox is also selected then the sequence number will restart at 1 for each piece type; T1, B1, W1, G1… and will restart again at 1 for each group.
  • Truss: The sequence number will restart at 1 for each truss; T1, B2, W3, G4… If the Restart per Piece Type checkbox is also selected then the sequence number will restart at 1 for each piece type; T1, B1, W1, G1… and will restart again at 1 for each truss
  • None: The sequence number will not restart; T1, B2, W3, G4...
  • Cutting Output Consolidation: The sequence number will restart at 1 for each Cutting Output Consolidation (project, group, truss or same piece); T1, B2, W3, G4… If the Restart per Piece Type checkbox is selected there will only be one T1, B1, W1, G1… within the selected Cutting Output Consolidation selection (group, project, truss, same piece

Restart per Piece Type

The sequence number restarts at 1 for each piece type; T1, B1, W1, G1… and will reset again for the selected Piece Sequence Reset option.

  • Checked (i.e. T1, B1, W1). This should be selected to work with the Left to Right or Right to Left Chord and Web Labeling options.
  • Unchecked (i.e. By group T1, B2, W3).

Chord Labeling Sequence

Controls the sequence number order of chords.

Select one of the following options:

  • Based on Saw Sort Criteria (i.e.first cut board would get #1 ): Chord sequence order will be based on the order that each piece falls in the saw sorting criteria.
  • Left to Right Position on Truss: Only works if Restart per Piece Type is selected. All trusses will label based on the selected Chord Label Sequence setting.
  • Right to Left Position on Truss: Only works if Restart per Piece Type is selected. All trusses will label based on the selected Chord Label Sequence setting.

Outside in when symmetric

When Outside in when symmetric is checked, the chord sequence order will be based on the outside to center position of the truss.

It is recommended to use the same setting for Chord Labeling Sequence and for Web Labeling Sequence.

Web Labeling Sequence

Controls the sequence number order of webs.

Select one of the following options:

  • Based on Saw Sort Criteria (i.e.first cut board would get #1 ): Web sequence order will be based on the order that each piece falls in the saw sorting criteria.
  • Left to Right Position on Truss: Only works if Restart per Piece Type is selected. All trusses will label based on the selected Web Label Sequence setting.
  • Right to Left Position on Truss: Only works if Restart per Piece Type is selected. All trusses will label based on the selected Web Label Sequence setting.

Inside out when symmetric

When Inside out when symmetric is checked, the web sequence order will be based on the center to outside position of the truss.

It is recommended to use the same setting for Chord Labeling Sequence and for Web Labeling Sequence.

Piece Label Consolidation

Controls which pieces can be consolidated. This is for labeling only; saw output consolidation is not affected.

Select the option to specify which pieces to consider when consolidating like pieces:

  • Consolidate by Project: Consolidates labels across the project and is not controlled by the saw file.
  • Consolidate by Group: Consolidates labels across the group and is not controlled by the saw file.
  • Consolidate by Truss: Consolidates labels across the truss and is not controlled by the saw file.
  • No Consolidation.
  • Cutting Output Consolidation: Consolidation matches the Process Unit.
