Summary

We will discuss options for connecting joists to beams and beams to columns using concealed beam hangers, fasteners to be used in column-to-column connections, and cold-formed steel connections to the edge of mass timber floor systems. We will evaluate steel strap options for connecting diaphragm elements.

  • Summarize a typical mass timber structure and identify the connections needed to provide proper load path.
  • Summarize the product offerings for concealed beam connectors.
  • Identify the differences between the fastener types used and how to specify them properly.
  • Describe resources for providing a code complaint design of a mass timber structure.
