Title: Design Cladding Connections with Greater Flexibility using the Edge-Tie System - Webinar No 2
Date: Wednesday, November 09, 2022
Time: 11:00 AM PT
Duration: 45 minutes plus live Q&A

This webinar has already taken place. A recording of the webinar will be available here, typically within one day.

Summary

Join us for part two of a two-part webinar series on the latest solutions for creating cladding connection designs for structural steel buildings. This second webinar, to be held on November 9, will provide a technical overview of the Edge-Tie™ system. We will discuss the performance evaluation testing and design parameters for a façade attachment method that uses adjustable bolted connections and does not require any field welding. We will also demonstrate useful software tools to simplify your design and detailing process.

Join Abhishek Kulkarni and Fayad Rahman for a one-hour webinar where you’ll discover how to integrate the Edge-Tie™ system into your current designs to maximize efficiency and resiliency throughout the construction process.

Abhishek Kulkarni, M.S., is an R&D Engineer at Simpson Strong-Tie with over five years of experience in structural engineering. He earned his master’s degree at the University of Cincinnati with a research focus on fracture prediction modeling in steel connections. He has been involved with the design and experimental testing of structural steel connections, primarily working on the Simpson Strong-Tie Strong Frame® moment frames that use the Yield-Link® structural fuse and, more recently, the Edge-Tie™ system for cladding support connections.

Fayad Rahman joined Simpson-Strong Tie as an R&D engineer earlier this year. Since joining the team, he has been primarily involved with the launch of the Edge-Tie™ system and the development of the accompanying engineering tools and software. Fayad has an extensive background developing innovations within the building industry, including seven years as an R&D and structural engineer for a seismic base isolation manufacturer.

As a result of attending this webinar, you should be able to:

  • Describe how the Edge-Tie system was tested under static, wind, and seismic loads
  • Explain the design parameters for the Edge-Tie system
  • Utilize new software tools to streamline your cladding design
Participants in the live event will have an opportunity to ask questions.
