Title: Builder Solutions Webinar: Understanding Corrosion
Date: Wednesday, May 26, 2021
Time: 11:00 AM PT
Duration: 45 minutes plus live Q&A

This webinar has already taken place. A recording of the webinar will be available here, typically within one day.

Summary

Metal connectors, fasteners and anchors can corrode and lose carrying capacity when installed in corrosive environments or when installed in contact with corrosive materials. The many variables present in a building environment make it impossible to predict accurately whether, or when, corrosion will begin to reach a critical level. This relative uncertainty makes it crucial that builders and specifiers be knowledgeable about the potential risks and select products suitable for the intended use.

Join us live on May 26 to learn how corrosion affects the integrity of a structure, what can cause or accelerate corrosion and how to mitigate corrosion with proper product selection.

As a result of attending this webinar, you should be able to:

  • Explain the fundamentals of corrosion and identify areas of concern
  • Describe common misconceptions about corrosion
  • Recognize products that have been developed to mitigate corrosion
  • Identify resources available for selecting connectors, anchors and fasteners based upon corrosion resistance

Join Nate Johnston, Simpson Strong-Tie Builder Program Vice President, and Robert Leichti, Simpson Strong-Tie Senior R&D Engineering Manager for Fasteners, for an informative conversation about general guidelines and approaches for selecting Simpson Strong-Tie products to resist corrosion in various construction conditions. Participants in the live event will have an opportunity to ask questions.

Continuing education credits will be offered for this webinar. Participants can earn one professional development hour (PDH) or 0.1 continuing education unit (CEU). Contact training@strongtie.com with any questions.
