Summary

The rapid growth of mid-rise wood-frame construction across the Okanagan has created new opportunities for architects, engineers, and builders. It has also created a need for specialized knowledge and practical experience as the industry transitions from predominantly low-rise construction to taller and more complex building typologies. Presented in partnership with WoodWorks BC, Weyerhaeuser, and Simpson Strong-Tie, this event will provide practitioners with practical guidance for the design and delivery of mid-rise wood-frame buildings through three focused presentations. Presenters will discuss how structural design approaches evolve as buildings increase in height and scale, best practices for detailing and constructability, and solutions commonly used to support efficient project delivery. Goal: Equip designers with the skills to transition from low- to mid-rise construction
